Wanda Elaine Barzee, born on November 6, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah, gained notoriety as a criminal for her involvement in the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart alongside her husband Brian David Mitchell. Prior to this crime, she was an accomplished organ player.
In 2010, Barzee was convicted of state and federal crimes and sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for her role in the abduction. She was released from prison in 2018 after serving her sentence.
Barzee’s family background includes being the daughter of Dora Corbett and having six children. In 1984, she divorced her first husband Talmage Thompson before marrying Brian David Mitchell a year later.
