Viviane Chidid, born on September 29, 1973 in Senegal, is a prominent pop singer who has played a significant role in popularizing Senegalese music. She gained recognition as a former background vocalist for her former sister-in-law Youssou N’dour.
Her career spans over a dozen studio albums, where she sings in English or her native Wolof language. Viviane’s music fuses traditional Senegalese sounds with rap, country, and R&B influences. In 1999, she released her debut album titled “Entre Nous/Between us/Ci sunu biir.”
