About Vashti Cunningham
Vashti Cunningham is an American high jumper born on January 18, 1998, in the United States. She gained fame in 2016 when she became the youngest person to win a gold medal at the World Indoor Championship for her exceptional high jumping abilities. Highly favored to win gold at the 2016 Olympic Games, she has established herself as a prominent figure in track and field.
Before reaching such heights of success, Vashti competed in track at Bishop Gorman High School alongside her brother before signing with Nike in early 2016. In addition to her World Indoor Championship achievement, she also won the 2016 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships and set a World Junior Record with a jump of over 1.99 meters (more than 6’6″).
Born into an athletic family, Vashti’s father is former NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham and her brother is Randall Cunningham II. Her uncle, Sam Cunningham, also had a career in the NFL.
