Umaria Sinhawansa is a Sri Lankan pop, R&B and jazz singer known for her hit single “Manda Pama,” which gained 10 million views shortly after its release in 2020. She has also served as a judge on the reality show The Voice Sri Lanka, and her Instagram account umariaofficial boasts over 750,000 followers.
Born on January 5, 1991 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Umaria began her music career at the age of 11 in 2005 performing with her sister at various stages. She studied at Muslim Ladies College and Gateway International School.
Umaria holds the distinction of being the youngest musician to receive an A-Grade from the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. Additionally, she has been honored with the ‘Kala Keerthi Abhimani’ award for her contributions to Sri Lanka’s music industry.
She comes from a musical family: Her birth name is Umaria Binthy Ayesha Sinhawansa; she is the daughter of Tony Sinhawansa and Ayesha Sinhawansa. Umaria has two older brothers – Subandrio and Hharthono – as well as an older sister named Umara Sinhawansa. Her grandmother Rani Perera was an actress in Sri Lankan cinema while her late maternal grandmother was renowned songstress and actress Rukmani Devi.
