About Tracey Emin
Tracey Emin is an English artist known for her personal and confessional artwork, closely associated with the Young British Artists movement. She was born on July 3, 1963, in England.
Emin’s provocative work has often stirred controversy, such as her piece “Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963–1995,” which featured a tent covered with names. Another widely discussed installation was “My Bed” in 1998, featuring her own unmade bed surrounded by dirty underwear and used condoms.
Before gaining fame as an artist, she had a difficult experience at the Royal College of Art despite graduating with a Master of Arts in painting. In response to this challenging period, Emin destroyed all the artwork she produced during that time.
Emin grew up in Margate, England alongside her twin brother Paul. Her father was a Turkish Cypriot who was married to another woman.
