About Toya Delazy
Toya Delazy, born on February 5, 1990 in South Africa, is a prominent pop singer. She gained rapid fame with her debut album Due Drop and received a nomination for Best International Act at the 2013 BET Awards. Additionally, she secured the titles of Best Pop Album and Newcomer of the Year at the 2013 South African Music Awards.
Delazy’s musical journey began at the age of nine when she started learning to play classical piano and compose music. In 2009, she graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal with a degree in jazz piano.
A documentary film titled Takes a Lot to Make a Classic was released to provide insights into the creation process of her first album Due Drop.
She was born Latoya Nontokozo Buthelezi in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and has notable familial connections as the granddaughter of Mangosuthu Buthelezi and great-granddaughter of Zulu composer Magogo kaDinuzulu.
