About Taylor McKeown
Taylor McKeown (born March 17, 1995) is a former competitive swimmer from Redcliffe, Australia. Throughout her career, she achieved notable success, including winning a gold medal in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, McKeown announced her retirement from competitive swimming after participating in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Prior to gaining fame as a competitive swimmer, McKeown claimed her first national titles in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events at only age of fifteen years old. In pursuit of her academic journey, she graduated from Grace Lutheran College in 2012 and enrolled in Animal Ecology studies at the University of Sunshine Coast.
Notably beyond swimming achievements and educational pursuits, Taylor took on additional roles such as working at Adreno Freediving beginning in 2021. Furthermore, she served as a swimming coach for both Griffith University and Achievers Swim Academy.
Born into an athletically inclined family with renowned connections within swimming culture – Taylor’s mother is Sharon McKeown while sister Kaylee McKeowon shares Olympic champion credentials.
