About Taeko Ohnuki
Taeko Ohnuki (born November 28, 1953) is a Japanese world music singer and songwriter who gained prominence in the city pop genre. She is best known for her acclaimed 1977 album Sunshower as well as her Europe trilogy of albums.
Prior to attaining fame, Ohnuki co-founded the group Sugar Babe with fellow musicians Tatsuro Yamashita and Kunio Muramatsu in 1973. In addition to her musical pursuits, she contributed the theme song for Animal Crossing: The Movie, a film adaptation based on Nintendo’s popular video game series.
Ohnuki’s father, Kenichiro Onuki, served as an active member of the Japanese Special Attack Units during World War II.
