About Suzan Mutesi
Suzan Mutesi (born June 21, 1986) is an award-winning fashion designer, author, actress, model, and reality star hailing from Uganda. She has been dubbed “The African Fashion Icon that Conquered Australia” by SatisfashionUG.
In 2022, she gained recognition for her appearance on the premiere season of The Challenge: Australia. Additionally, Mutesi is the author of several children’s books and a memoir titled The Immigrant that Found Her Unapologetic Voice which became one of Amazon’s Top Sellers upon its release in March 2023.
With over 1.2 million followers on her suzan_mutesi Instagram account, she often shares travel and event photos along with collaborations with notable brands such as Nike and L’Oreal.
Mutesi drew inspiration for her career from fashion magazines printed at the factory where she worked as a teenager. After high school, she pursued her passion further at the Raffles KvB Institute of Technology where she earned a bachelor’s degree in fashion and apparel design.
Her successes include being named Australian Designer of the Year for two consecutive years (2011-2012) and receiving the Fashion Icon of the Year Award at the Afro-Australia Music and Movie Awards in September 2014.
