About Sunetra Sastry
Sunetra Sastry (born September 5, 1957) is a renowned makeup artist from Newcastle upon Tyne, England. She is recognized for her work on the 1991 film “Smack and Thistle” as well as the BBC series “Blackadder.” Sunetra gained further attention due to her long-time marriage to comedian Rowan Atkinson.
Prior to her career in makeup artistry, Sunetra attended a Beauty College in London. Despite initial resistance from her parents who preferred she pursue a nursing career, they eventually acknowledged her talent and began supporting her professional endeavors.
In February 1990, Sunetra married Rowan Atkinson with whom she shares two children: son Benjamin and daughter Lily. The couple divorced in November 2015 after many years together.
