About Summer Ross
Summer Ross is a professional beach volleyball player who was born on December 20, 1992 in San Diego, California. She gained widespread recognition in 2010 when she made history by winning the FIVB Youth U-19 and Junior U-21 world championships in the same year, becoming the first person to do so. Her remarkable achievements led her to be honored as the 2010 USA Volleyball Beach Female Athlete of the Year.
Before her career took off, Ross attended the University of Washington to play indoor volleyball before transferring to Pepperdine where she focused on beach volleyball. Notably, even prior to her 2010 successes, Ross had proven herself as an exceptional talent by qualifying for an AVP tournament at just 16 years old in 2009. At that time, her partner was also remarkably young at age 17 – together they formed the youngest team to qualify for such a competition.
Ross comes from a family with strong ties to volleyball; her older brother also played professionally at Pepperdine. Her parents are named Kathy and Tony Ross.
