About Soyeon Kim
Soyeon Kim is a renowned South Korean illustrator and filmmaker, known for her work in children’s picture books. Some of her notable books include Wild Ideas, Is This Panama? Sukaq and the Raven, You Are Never Alone, A Last Goodbye, Once Upon an Hour and When Sunlight Tiptoes. She has also been involved in independent film production since 1993 and has worked on various advertising projects.
Kim earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts as well as a Bachelor of Education from York University. In 2017, she was invited to the Adelaide Writers’ Week in Australia and has received recognition such as the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Illustrator’s Award. She has also taken part in artist residencies at The Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia and Spark Box Studios in Picton, Ontario.
Alongside her partner Todd Hemker, she co-founded Yellowshed – a design and animation company.
