About Sophie Wilson
Sophie Wilson, born on June 1, 1957 in Leeds, England, is an English computer scientist renowned for her significant contributions to the design and development of the BBC Micro computer series. In 2012, she was honored with the Fellow Award by the Computer History Museum for her pioneering work on the BBC Micro as well as her role in shaping the ARM processor architecture. Currently serving as the director of IC Design at Broadcom’s Cambridge office, Sophie Wilson has made substantial impact in the field of computer science.
Prior to gaining recognition for her accomplishments, Sophie Wilson commenced her studies in Computer Science at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge in 1975. Notably, during an Easter break away from university studies she designed her first microcomputer which was implemented to electronically control feed for cows.
