About Sinead Burke
Sinead Burke, born on September 19, 1990 in Ireland, is an educator and activist who has Achlasia, the most common form of dwarfism. She is best known for her advocacy for more inclusive fashion and design for people with disabilities. Her TED Talk “Why Design Should Include Everyone” gained significant attention.
Before her activism work, Burke worked as a primary school teacher and was heavily involved in education through her twenties. In addition to her advocacy work in fashion and design, she also serves as an ambassador for the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Irish Girl Guides.
Burke co-founded the Inclusive Fashion and Design Collective (IFDC) with US disability advocate Liz Jackson to further push for inclusivity in creativity and industry spaces.
She was raised in Ireland and has four siblings.
