Simone Simons, born on January 17, 1985 in Hoensbroek, Netherlands, is a metal singer known for her role as the lead vocalist of the symphonic metal band Epica. As a mezzo-soprano vocalist, she has contributed to seven albums with the group from 2003 to 2016.
Before rising to fame, Simone began playing the flute and studying classical and pop voice techniques in her early teenage years.
An interesting fact about Simone is that she joined Epica in 2002 after being recruited by her then-boyfriend, guitarist Mark Jansen.
In late 2013, Simone and fellow musician Oliver Palotai welcomed their first child named Vincent Palotai. The couple tied the knot in the same year.
