About Simone Niggli-Luder
Simone Niggli-Luder, born on January 9, 1978 in Switzerland, is a dominant athlete in the sport of orienteering. She has achieved remarkable success by winning World Championship titles in all four of the possible women’s competitions. Niggli-Luder also clinched nine gold medals at the Orienteering World Cup from 2002 to 2013.
Prior to her fame, she started her orienteering career at age ten and seized the gold medal at the 1997 Junior World Championships. Noteworthy achievements include winning gold medals in all four women’s competitions during the same year at the World Orienteering Championships in both 2003 and 2005.
In her personal life, she married Swiss orienteering athlete Matthias Niggli in 2003 and they welcomed twins in 2011.
