About Silken Laumann
Silken Laumann, born on November 14, 1964 in Canada, is a renowned Olympic rower. She achieved the silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta and was chosen to carry the Canadian flag during the opening ceremonies.
With her roots in Toronto Township, Laumann began winning medals as early as 1976. Despite facing a significant setback due to nearly losing a leg while training for the 1992 Olympics, she persevered and ultimately secured a bronze medal at that same event.
Outside of her athletic pursuits, Laumann was married to John Wallace from 1993 until their divorce in 2002.
