Sierra Deaton is an American pop singer who gained recognition as one half of the indie pop group Alex & Sierra, alongside Alex Kinsey. Born on February 11, 1991 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Deaton and Kinsey achieved fame by winning the final season of The X Factor in 2013.
Prior to her music career, Deaton was a professional dance competitor for eleven years and earned three international titles for Irish dancing. The duo was mentored by Simon Cowell during their time on The X Factor. In February 2018, Deaton released her debut solo single “Don’t Hurt” under her stage name Essy.
Deaton’s family background includes having a British father and Vietnamese mother. She dated Alex Kinsey for over eight years before announcing their separation in 2017. In 2018, she began dating Luke Hemmings from the band 5 Seconds of Summer; they got engaged in June 2021 and married a year later.
