Shelly West (born May 23, 1958) is a country singer hailing from Cleveland, Ohio. She rose to fame in the 1980s with hit singles such as “Jose Cuervo” and “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma,” both of which reached #1 on the charts.
Prior to achieving stardom, West kick-started her music career by releasing her debut album “Carryin’ on the Family Names” in 1981.
In addition to her solo success, she also gained recognition alongside David Frizzell as they were bestowed with two Top Vocal Duo of the Year honors from the Academy of Country Music Awards.
West was previously married to Allen Frizzell from 1977 to 1985.
