Sharon Murphy is a family member best known as the mother of late actress Brittany Murphy. She was unexpectedly thrust into the public eye after discovering her daughter’s body in their Hollywood Hills home in December 2009. Sharon was later featured in HBO Max’s 2021 documentary “What Happened, Brittany Murphy?”. Before her daughter’s rise to fame, she and Brittany relocated to Los Angeles to support her acting career.
In a tragic turn of events, Sharon also found her daughter’s husband, Simon Monjack, dead in the same residence just months after Brittany’s passing. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2013, she expressed that she had withdrawn from public life to mourn her daughter “in seclusion,” addressing how difficult it had been for her.
Sharon and former husband Angelo Bertolotti welcomed their only child, Brittany, into the world back in November 1977; they divorced when Brittany was very young. She raised her daughter as a single parent before experiencing unimaginable losses.
