Sharaya J. (born January 17, 1984) is a rapper and choreographer known for her well-known singles “BANJI” and “Smash Up the Place.” Born Sharaya Howell in Hawaii, she has collaborated with artists such as Diddy, Rihanna, Ciara, and Alicia Keys. In 2018, she gained recognition as a Top 4 finalist on the reality TV show The Four: Battle for Stardom.
Prior to her music career, Sharaya worked as a hip hop choreographer and urban screenplay writer. She is also recognized for her work as a dancer in Step Up 2: The Streets and Step Up 3D. Additionally, she served as an ambassador for Alexander Wang’s T by Alexander Wang campaign.
Sharaya J.’s family roots trace back to Jersey City, New Jersey despite being born in Hawaii. Her father was a member of the ’90s hip-hop group called Double XX Posse.
