About Shailyn Pierre-Dixon
Shailyn Pierre-Dixon is a Canadian movie actress known for her role as young Aminata in the CBC TV mini-series The Book of Negroes. She was born on June 1, 2003, and began her career with minor background roles in film and television before earning her breakthrough role as Kelly in the 2013 film The Best Man Holiday.
In addition to her work on The Book of Negroes, she appeared in the first Canadian Netflix production Between in 2015 as Frances. That same year, she was cast in the highly-anticipated films Jean of the Joneses and Suicide Squad.
Pierre-Dixon’s family roots are of Canadian and Trinidadian descent. She was raised by her parents Christina and Maurice in Canada.
