About Sevara Nazarkhan
Sevara Nazarkhan is a folk singer and songwriter born on December 31, 1978, in Andijan, Uzbekistan. She is known for her albums Tortadur and Go’zal Dema, which garnered her an international following and earned her a BBC Radio 3 World Music Award in 2004.
Prior to gaining fame as a folk singer, Nazarkhan began her music career as a professional player of the doutar, an Asian lute. She later attended the Uzbek National Conservatory and released her debut album Yoʻl Boʻlsin in 2003 to critical acclaim.
In addition to her successful music career, she founded the music production company Sevaramusic and released her fourth solo album under its label.
Nazarkhan was raised in what was then the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic by parents with strong ties to the music industry; her father worked as a radio station executive while her mother was also involved in music.
