Serena Burla, born on September 27, 1982 in St. Louis, Missouri, is a track and field athlete known for her prowess in long distance running. She gained attention by ranking fifth in qualifying times at the 2016 U.S. Olympic trials.
Before her rise to fame, Burla was associated with the Maryland-based Riadha team as a professional runner. A notable aspect of her life came when she discovered a cancerous tumor in her right hamstring back in 2010; she credited running for aiding its discovery.
Burla’s origins trace back to St. Louis, Missouri and during her athletic career she showed promise as a two-time Big 12 Conference runner up while representing the Missouri Tigers.
