About Sara Shakeel
Sara Shakeel, born on August 23, 1989 in Pakistan, is a contemporary conceptual collage artist known for her #glitterstretchmarks movement that promotes female empowerment. She captures photos of women’s stretch marks and adorns them with glitter. In addition to this, she has gained recognition for her talent in superimposing different images together.
Prior to pursuing art as a career, Shakeel experienced setbacks when she failed her final year of dental school in 2016. Despite having no formal education in art prior to choosing it as her profession, she has excelled and garnered a dedicated following on her self-titled Instagram feed which boasts over 1.1 million followers. Her account underwent a transformation from its original content to solely featuring artwork after she discovered her passion for the medium.
Shakeel is based out of Islamabad, Pakistan.
