About Sandra Denton
Sandra Denton, born on November 9, 1969 in Kingston, Jamaica, is best known as “Pepa” of the all-female rap trio Salt-N-Pepa. The group gained fame with their hit song ‘Let’s Talk About Sex,’ which reached certified gold status and peaked at #13 on the US Charts in 1991.
Prior to her music career, Denton met Cheryl ‘Salt’ James while studying nursing at Queensborough Community College. She also appeared as a cast member on VH1’s ‘The Surreal Life’ in 2005.
She relocated with her family from Jamaica to Queens, New York during her childhood and was married to rapper Treach from 1999-2001. She has two children named Egypt and Tyran.
