Sandra Avila Beltran, born on October 16, 1960 in Mexico, is a notorious criminal known for her involvement in drug cartels. She earned the moniker “The Queen of the Pacific” and was recognized as a key bridge between the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico and the Norte del Valle cartel in Colombia. While she faced charges related to cocaine activities, her conviction ultimately came from money laundering offenses.
Prior to gaining notoriety, Beltran lived in various Mexican cities such as Guadalajara, Jalisco and Hermosillo, Sonora. She hails from a family of established drug kingpins; her father being Alfonso Avila Quintero. Interestingly, both of her first two husbands transitioned from police commanders to becoming involved with drug trafficking.
One notable point of interest is that Beltran participated in a series of prison interviews with Mexican journalist Julio Scherer which led to the publication of a book titled The Queen of the Pacific: Time to Talk in 2008.
