About Sandi Toksvig
Sandi Toksvig is a Danish-born writer and comedian, known for her role as the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s News Quiz and Channel 4’s quiz show “1001 You Should Know.” Born on May 3, 1958 in Copenhagen, Denmark, she later moved to the U.S. during her childhood before eventually settling in the UK.
Before gaining fame as a comedian, she studied acting at Girton College, Cambridge University and became a member of the first all-woman show at its student-run theatrical club called Footlights. She also made history by performing stand up on the opening night of London’s Comedy Store.
In addition to her comedic work, Toksvig served as Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth from 2012 onwards. She married Debie Toksvig in 2014 and has three children named Jessica, Megan, and Theo.
Toksvig has appeared as a panelist on various comedy shows throughout her career.
