About Ruth Manning Sanders
Ruth Manning Sanders (1886-08-21) was a British author, poet, and compiler of children’s fairy tales. She is best known for her works such as A Book of Giants, A Book of Ogres and Trolls, The Growing Trees, and The River Dart. Throughout her career, she published nearly one hundred literary works.
She was born in Wales to a Unitarian minister and moved to England at the age of three. In her early years of marriage, she and her husband worked for Rosaire’s traveling circus. Ruth married artist George Sanders in 1911, with whom she had two children.
