About Russya
Russya is a Ukrainian pop singer who was born on June 9, 1968, in Kyiv, Ukraine. She rose to fame in the 80s and 90s as a massive star in Ukraine with hits like “Don’t Stand By My Window,” “The Mermaid,” and “The Fortune Teller.” After a decade away from the music industry, she made her comeback in 2007 with the album The Best of Russya.
Before pursuing her singing career, Russya began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and later enrolled at the Kiev Music College.
In addition to her musical success, Russya won consecutive Best Female Artist of Ukraine awards in 1990 and 1991.
Her real name is Irina Volodymyrivna Poryvai, and she is married to songwriter Konstantin Ossaoulenko.
