About Rosmarie Waldrop
Rosmarie Waldrop (born August 24, 1935) is a German-American poet, publisher, and translator. She is known for her works such as Reluctant Gravities, Blindsight, and A Key into the Language of America. In 2008, she was awarded the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation.
Before gaining recognition as a writer and translator, Waldrop performed with a touring theatre troupe and played piano and flute in a youth orchestra. She later earned a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
In addition to her literary accomplishments, Waldrop was honored by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2006. She is married to Keith Waldrop; together they co-founded Burning Deck Magazine.
