About Rosemary Wells
Rosemary Wells (born January 29, 1943) is a children’s author and illustrator from New York City, known for her popular Max and Ruby series of books. She has also authored the Voyage to the Bunny Planet books and a historical fiction work titled Red Moon at Sharpsburg.
Wells began her career by illustrating Ellen Conford’s book Impossible, Possum in the early 1970s. Her early solo-written works include Unfortunately Harriet and Noisy Nora.
In her Yoko children’s books, Wells addresses themes of racism through the trials and tribulations faced by a Japanese cat named Yoko. She grew up in New York and New Jersey before marrying architect Thomas Moore Wells in 1963.
