About Robert Noyce
Robert Noyce was born on December 12, 1927, in Burlington, Iowa. He was an entrepreneur and is known as the co-inventor, along with Jack Kilby, of integrated circuits. His work made microprocessors and the electronic revolution possible.
Prior to his groundbreaking achievements, Noyce worked as a researcher for the Philco Corporation before moving to Shockley Semiconductor in Palo Alto, California to work on transistors.
In 1957, he co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor to develop a new and more efficient transistor. A decade later he went on to co-found Intel. Noyce’s contributions have had a lasting impact on technology and innovation.
He was born into a family of four sons led by his father Rev. Ralph Brewster Noyce who inspired him from an early age.
