Rhonda Glenn (born May 6, 1946) is an American sportscaster who holds the distinction of being the first full-time female network sportscaster in American history. Born in Florida, she gained prominence for her work at ESPN starting in 1981, where she specialized in golf coverage. She authored notable books such as “The Illustrated History of Women’s Golf” and received the prestigious William D. Richardson Award from the Golf Writers Association of America.
Before making her mark as a sportscaster, Glenn excelled in golf as a two-time Florida High School Athletic Association champion and winner of the Florida East Coast Golf Tournament in 1965. Prior to joining ESPN, she garnered popularity during her time as a weather presenter at WAVY-TV in Portsmouth, Virginia – where she became so beloved that the city honored her by renaming a street after her.
Rhonda Glenn passed away and was survived by her sister Kathy Williams.
