About Rachel Goldfarb
Rachel Goldfarb, also known as Kit Whistler, is an American illustrator born on April 27, 1988. Together with her partner James Campbell, she gained recognition for embarking on a nomadic lifestyle and documenting their adventures on the joint blog and Instagram Idle Theory Bus.
Goldfarb’s journey to fame began when she and James quit their jobs after living in a small studio following their high school relationship. They adopted pseudonyms Kit Whistler and J.R. Switchgrass, which were featured in the novel “Orange is Optimism,” inspired by their experiences with the Idle Theory Bus.
The couple was living in Encinitas, California before they made the decision to live out of a 1976 orange Volkswagen bus, garnering attention for their unconventional lifestyle choices.
