About Rachel Held Evans
Rachel Held Evans (June 8, 1981 – May 4, 2019) was a religious author best known for her published works. She gained recognition for her book A Year of Biblical Womanhood: How a Liberated Woman Found Herself Sitting on Her Roof, Covering Her Head, and Calling Her Husband Master, which became a New York Times E-book nonfiction bestseller in 2012.
Prior to her writing career, Evans earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English literature from Bryan University in 2003 and wrote pro-bono for The Herald-News newspaper in Dayton by the year 2006.
Evans identified as an Episcopalian and made an appearance on The Today Show to promote A Year of Biblical Womanhood. She was raised by parents Peter and Robin in Birmingham, Alabama and married Dan Evans in 2003 until her passing in 2019.
