About Perdita Felicien
Perdita Felicien is a former Canadian hurdler who achieved significant success in her career. She was born on August 29, 1980, in Oshawa, Canada.
Felicien made a name for herself by winning the 2003 World Champion title in the 100-meter hurdles and the 2004 World Indoor Champion title in the 60-meter hurdle. She also secured silver medals at the 2007 World Championships and the 2010 World Indoor Championships. In addition, she set the Canadian record for the 100-meter hurdles in 2004 with a time of 12.46 seconds before retiring from competition in 2013.
Prior to her fame, she began hurdling at Pine Ridge Secondary School and won the Ontario high school hurdling championship in1998. Furthering her education, she studied kinesiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she earned All-American honors and set records during her college career.
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Felicien is an author whose memoir “My Mother’s Daughter: A Memoir of Struggle and Triumph” became an instant national best-seller. She has received several accolades including three consecutive University of Illinois Female Athlete ofthe Year awards during her time there.
