About Penelope Lively
Penelope Lively is a British author best known for her work in children’s literature. She was born on March 17, 1933, in Egypt.
Lively achieved critical acclaim for her children’s book “The Ghost of Thomas Kempe,” winning the prestigious Carnegie Medal in 1973. In addition to her contributions to children’s literature, she has also penned several well-received novels for adults, including “Moon Tiger,” which earned her the Booker Prize in 1987.
Prior to gaining success as an author, Lively pursued higher education and studied Modern History at St Anne’s College, Oxford.
Some of her other notable works include “The Road to Lichfield” and “The Driftway.” Throughout much of her career, Lively was married to Jack Lively until his passing in 1998.
