About Patricia Zipprodt
Patricia Zipprodt was a renowned fashion designer born on February 24, 1925, in Illinois. Known for her Broadway costume designs, she worked on productions including Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Chicago, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Into the Woods, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and The Crucible.
Before gaining recognition in the industry, she pursued studies in sociology and psychology at Wellesley College. Her career took off when she designed costumes for her first Broadway show called The Potting Shed in 1957.
In addition to her work in theater productions, Zipprodt also contributed to films such as The Graduate and 1776. In her personal life, she married Colonel Robert O’Brien Jr. in 1993 after he proposed to her five decades earlier. This proposal had been declined at the time but they reconnected later in their lives.
