About Oriana Fallaci
Oriana Fallaci was an Italian journalist born on June 29, 1929, in Florence, Italy. She gained fame for her wartime interviews with prominent leaders such as U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, and North Vietnamese military leader Vo Nguyen Giap.
She began her career as a reporter for the Italian newspaper Il Mattino dell’Italia Centrale while still in her teens and later worked as a war correspondent covering conflicts in Vietnam, South America, and the Middle East.
Fallaci won numerous honors during her career, including the Viareggio Prize, Prix Antibes, and Bancarella Prize. During World War II she opposed fascism and joined the Giustizia e Liberta resistance movement.
She passed away from lung cancer at the age of seventy-seven in her hometown of Florence. During the 1970s, she had a romantic relationship with Greek politician Alexandros Panagoulis.
