About Olga Merediz
Olga Merediz, born on February 15, 1956 in Guantanamo, Cuba, is a renowned stage actress. She is best known for originating the role of Abuela Claudia in the stage production of In the Heights and reprising her role in the 2021 film adaptation. Merediz has also appeared on television series such as Shades of Blue and Orange Is the New Black.
Her professional acting career began in 1984 and she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for her work on In the Heights. Additionally, Latina magazine recognized her as one of the 50 Best Latin Singers and Pop Stars of All Time in 2013.
Merediz was born in Cuba but spent most of her childhood living in Miami and Puerto Rico.
