About Nina Oyama
Nina Oyama is an Australian comedian, writer, actor, and director known for her role as Courtney in the comedy TV series Utopia. She also appeared on Kinne Tonight and wrote for YOLO: Crystal Fantasy.
Oyama earned a degree in communications and theatre media from Charles Sturt University before beginning her career in stand-up comedy at 17 years old. Notably, she was a state finalist in the Class Clowns competition at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
In addition to her work on screen, Oyama co-directed the film Diving In, which premiered at the 2020 Sydney Film Festival. Her talent has earned her nominations such as the Australian Directors’ Guild Award for co-writing The Angus Project and a Best Newcomer nomination from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
She was born to an Australian mother and Japanese father who met at a hostel in Nagoya, Japan.
