About Nina Bawden
Nina Bawden was a British children’s author and novelist, known for works such as The Witch’s Daughter, Carrie’s War, and The Peppermint Pig. She was born on January 19, 1925 in England.
Before gaining fame as an author, she studied politics, economics, and philosophy at Somerville College, Oxford.
Bawden achieved acclaim in the literary world and received notable nominations for awards such as the Booker Prize in 1987. She later garnered recognition by being shortlisted for the Lost Man Booker Prize 23 years later.
In addition to her literary accomplishments, she was also honored with the Golden PEN Award in 2004.
Bawden had two sons with her first husband Harry Bawden. After their divorce, she married BBC reporter Austen Kark with whom she had a daughter.
