About Natalie Babbitt
Natalie Babbitt, born on July 28, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio, was a renowned children’s author known for her notable work “Tuck Everlasting” published in 1975. She was also an accomplished illustrator and was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1982. Some of her other prominent works include “Jack Plank Tells Tales” (2007), “Knee-Knock Rise” (1970), and “Nellie: A Cat on Her Own” (1989).
Before gaining recognition as an author, she studied art at Smith College in Massachusetts and illustrated a children’s book titled “The Forty-ninth Magician,” authored by her husband.
Two of Babbitt’s books were adapted into films – The Eyes of the Amaryllis and Tuck Everlasting. She was married to Samuel Fisher Babbitt with whom she had three children.
