About Natalia Makarova
Natalia Makarova, born on October 21, 1940 in Russia, is a Russian-born ballet dancer and musical theater performer. She earned Tony, Drama Desk, and Theatre World Awards for her starring role in the 1983 Broadway revival of On Your Toes. Prior to her fame, she was a prima ballerina with the Kirov Ballet during the 1950s and ’60s. Her best-known ballet credits include featured roles in Giselle and Swan Lake.
In 1976 she married Edward Karkar; they had a son named Andrei.
