About Nan Rae
Nan Rae is an American painter known for her Chinese brush painting style, which combines the traditional Literati approach with an impressionistic use of color. Born on May 18, 1958 in the United States, Rae has exhibited her work at prestigious venues such as the Art Institute of Chicago and has also had her art published as greeting cards.
Before gaining recognition as a painter, Nan Rae spent summers at Interlochen’s National Music Camp honing her artistic skills. Notably, one of her pieces titled “The Pagliaccio Trio” was initially discarded by Rae but was later retrieved by a teacher and went on to receive a National Scholastic Award.
In addition to her exhibitions and greeting card publications, Nan Rae has illustrated several books and received accolades for her artwork. Notably, “Suma the Elephant,” which she illustrated, won the Benjamin Franklin Award for its artwork.
Rae continues to be recognized for her distinct fusion of artistic styles through numerous contributions to the world of painting.
