About Myriam Bregman
Myriam Bregman, born on February 25, 1972 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is an activist, politician and lawyer known for her work as plaintiff in cases against genocide and in defense of workers. She serves as the national leader of the Socialist Workers Party and previously held the position of National Deputy in the Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation from 2015 to 2016.
Before entering politics, Bregman obtained a degree in law from the University of Buenos Aires and joined the Socialist Workers Party while still a student. She is also one of the founders and members of both the Center For Human Rights Professionals and Justice Collective Now!
Bregman gained recognition as one of Jorge Julio Lopez’s lawyers; Lopez was a witness who disappeared in 2006 after giving testimony against Miguel Osvaldo Etchecolatz, a former policeman convicted of genocide.
Her father was a rural teacher in Timote and she has one younger brother.
