About Monica Dogra
Monica Dogra, born on October 25, 1982 in Baltimore, Maryland, is an Indian-American singer known for her work as one half of the electro-rock duo Shaa‘ir and Func. She has also gained recognition as the host of the Indian music television show The Dewarists and for her acting debut in the 2011 film Dhobi Ghat.
Prior to her fame, Dogra grew up in Baltimore and attended Dulaney High School before earning a Bachelor’s degree in music from New York University in 2004. In addition to her musical career, she served as a judge for Rolling Stone’s Never Hide Sounds talent contest in 2011.
Dogra comes from a musically inclined family; she is the niece of folk singer Prakash Sharma.
