About Miya Ando
Miya Ando, born on October 28, 1978 in the United States, is a conceptual artist known for her large three-dimensional structures that reflect American minimalism and Zen Reductivism. In 2015, she was selected for Artforum’s Critics’ Pic award.
Before gaining recognition as an artist, Ando apprenticed at the Hattori Studio in Japan. Notably, one of her pieces entered into the permanent collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 2016.
As a descendent of the Bizen sword maker Ando Yoshiro Masakatsu, she brings a rich artistic heritage to her work as a modern conceptual artist.
