Meseret Defar, born on November 19, 1983, in Ethiopia, is a renowned long-distance runner. She has made a significant impact in the sport with her specialization in the 3000 meters and 5000 meters events and the breaking of multiple records throughout her career.
Defar’s first Olympic appearance was at the 2004 Athens games, where she secured a gold medal in the 5000 meters event. Subsequently, she went on to win bronze at the 2008 Beijing games and another gold at the 2012 London games, both in the same event.
